Today’s Gawker outage was a result of a DDOS attack against Consumerist, according to a memo that I’m too lazy to copy/paste. Details can be found in Deustch at http://serversupportforum.de/forum/server-down/30511-ddos-attack-von-illusion-botnetz.html).

Thanks to Tom and Co who have been working pretty much round the clock to get that handled. If I bothered with the memo paste-age, you’d know that they’ve implemented some kind of wirey systems so this doesn’t happen again. Your usual level of Gawkage will resume tomorrow.

EDIT: Yes, I know Consumerist no longer belongs to Gawker, but we still host their content for them.
