My name is James. James Del actually. I work at a place called Gawker Media, something I find myself explaining to my parents every time I see them. They'll get it one day. I don't believe in Twitter, but I do believe in Facebook and LinkedIn. There's a Myspace page out there too, but never mind that. Questions, concerns, and comments can be directed to James, At-Sign Gawker, Period Com.

On a lighter topic, i’ve been pondering the theory of Serendipity, or the theory that things happen for a reason, normally between a man and a woman. This came up today when Mrs. Cruz was explaining to me that she believed everything in life happened for a reason. I highly dispute that idea, cause if such is the case then we have absolutely no control over our lives. However that got me thinking about serendipity. We’ve all been in a situation where we are granted some kind of good fortune, by complete chance. You could miss a train that ends up breaking down, fake sick on a day when you end up having crazy pop quizes, or go to a party that you had no intention of going to, only to meet the person of your dreams. It’s weird how that all works out and, although i have very little belief in there being a greater power ‘willing’ our actions to be, I do feel that any kind of moment of serendipity should be respected. Not blamed on a greater power, but when something of such great coincidence happens like that, i think that out of courtesy your action should happen in accordance with the coincidence. Not all things happen for a reason, but if something happens and a reason is given to you, then that is serendipity, or an ourstanding stroke of luck, and moments like that are incredible. So if anything in your life is a result of serendipity, be thankful for it.
