Story time: When I was interning at Columbia Records back in 2007, I stumbled upon this video when it only had 90k views. I played it for the A&R Gods, who determined that, while it was good, it did not have a home at Columbia Records. Disappointed but still ridiculously psyched, I passed their demo along to everyone I knew, including Matt Galle, a booking agent at Ellis Industries I was desperately trying to get a job with at the time. One year later, his producer friend Matt Squire began working with 3Oh3!, and shortly thereafter Galle signed them to his own label, Photo Finish Records. Their biggest hit “Don’t Trust Me” hit #1 on the Pop Charts this past summer, and was co-written by 3oh3!, Squire, and Benny Blanco. The single recently hit double platinum status.
