My name is James. James Del actually. I work at a place called Gawker Media, something I find myself explaining to my parents every time I see them. They'll get it one day. I don't believe in Twitter, but I do believe in Facebook and LinkedIn. There's a Myspace page out there too, but never mind that. Questions, concerns, and comments can be directed to James, At-Sign Gawker, Period Com.

RNC, or just academia racism?

The company that issued the survey below emailed me, claiming to be simply doing independent research, not affiliated with the RNC. They passed on examples of academic surveys that use similar language towards race and sex. To quote:

The survey questions consisted of commonly used protocols developed within academia.

I’ve attached the sources of the questions that we asked on race and gender.  It’s our goal to use these to ‘benchmark’ the results that we collect among college students to see how they differ from the general population and how they impact voting intent.

There was no client behind this project.  We do these projects so that we can better understand what students are thinking and why.

I still find it highly suspicious that they came out with this highly political, biased survey within days of the report about the RNC. Do I believe them? Maybe…but the truth is, they might be academic terms, but I”m sure they’re the same terms being used in the official surveys as well. Not to mention, the above email doesn’t address the specific quotes from the candidates. Fishy!
